Bemerkung 1:   International awarded project setting the scene for South Africa's and Africa's first "green" farm village. The village development programme aims to incorporate 300 mixed income residential units, 300 small scale food gardens, 100 medium sized roofed food gardens, 35 hectares farmland and conservation areas, small farm school, clinic, shops, boutique hotel, small food markets. All buildings will be linked to its own renewable energy sources and the rural landscape of the Eastern Free State. Project timeline: 2007 - 2020 Project cost: R550 mil (55 mil Euro)
Projekt 2:   Thorntree View, Soshanguve Integrated Housing Development - Gauteng Province

Bemerkung 2:   Thorntree View is synonymous with one of the developments in Gauteng province. It is located within the boundaries of the City of Tshwane. The Thorntree View project is located just north of the Rosslyn Industrial Area, north-west of the city center of Pretoria in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Located on just over 1,200ha of prime located property, it aims to establish 28 000 households, schools, hospitals and clinics, churches, sport facilities, shopping malls and community centers. The Development also falls within the new proposed priority node as part of the Tshwane Mayor’s and Housing Minister’s delivery initiatives. Projekt 3:   Engineering Department Building, Tshwane University of Technology - Gauteng Province

Bemerkung 3:   The Tshwane University of Technology commissioned a new building for the Faculty of Engineering and Build Environment. A Centre for innovative teaching and learning should be designed to accommodate more effective learning and encourage effective pedagogical practice and act as a catalyst that aspires towards enhanced student success rates. The building will be the first green building for the university with low& high technological innovation. Project timeline: 2011- 2013 Project cost: R44 mil (4,4 mil Euro)

Bemerkung 4:   Urban and social sustainability are of great concern because they have been virtually ignored in current programmes and designs to reimagine housing for the City of Cape Town. For urban development and housing will become the catalysts for an end to poverty, exploitation, segregation, inadequate housing, congestions, ugliness and homelessness within the city.
